Our spare time is very precious and sometimes we end up procrastinating or simply wasting it sitting in front of the tv, it just seems to happen. It takes some effort and commitment to yourself to make a change and try to be more productive in your spare time. Especially if you are naturally in bad habits as it is what we go back to when things get tough or difficult. But by pushing yourself you can end up happier, healthier and more fulfilled in life. Here are a few ideas of different things you can do in your spare time to improve your life.
One of the first things and more simple things you can look at is meal prepping. This is something you could do on a Sunday for the week or when you have a spare few hours. It ends up saving you a lot of time in the week which is a lifesaver when you have had a particularly long or stressful day. You could boil your eggs for hard-boiled eggs, cut your vegetables and store them correctly. Some will need to be in the water, some will need to be wrapped in a cloth but once you know and can get in the routine it will save you a lot of time. You could also cook your lunches ahead of time, make overnight oats which will keep in the fridge for a few days. For more treats, you can make granola bars or cookies. With cookies you can leave it in dough form and freeze it, then just pop it in the oven when you want one and you have a freshly baked cookie.
Your spare time can not only be productive but can help you improve yourself and your knowledge. You can look to learn something new. There are thousands of free online courses now that people can practically learn anything these days. You could also look to widen your cultural knowledge and learn a new language. You can find different things online, so if for example, you were learning Spanish, you can find Spanish Learning Resources. There are even free apps like Duolingo where you can learn different languages for free.
Our homes are our safe spaces, where we go to unwind, relax and spend our time making memories with our loved ones. Sometimes when life gets busy the house can get neglected a bit. There is the normal cleaning which we keep on top of like the washing, vacuuming and laundry but the other bits can get left or forgotten about. There are times we need to just dedicate to a good deep clean and get the house feeling fresh and new. Examples would be cleaning the fridge, taking out all of the food and giving it a good scrub, cleaning the oven and checking under the beds, not for monsters but dust bunnies. There are always jobs we forget to do so next time you have some spare time, tackle it and tick it off your to-do list
