Bob, now settled with Wendy, must reconcile old memories and new children while Richard must save his family from themselves. Along the way, they are adopted by the lascivious Lucy Fishwick and her predatory daughter Maddie, whose lives are as mad and chaotic as the radio play Lucy is trying to write and, indeed, the world itself. But despite the coming plague, it doesn’t look like Armageddon. There is to be an apocalypse, but one of personal dimensions. We don’t all go together when we go!

My review

This was the first book I had read by this author and this didn’t seem to matter, although there is a distinct way of writing style which I really enjoyed. This book covers everything from Brexit, Donald Trump, Abortion etc! In amongst all of this chaos Lucy is writing a radio play and what a colourful life she has along with her daughter Maddie. Bob is the main character in all of this who starts off telling the story then Wendy takes over giving us her input too.

Politics do heavily come into this book and I wasn’t sure how I would feel about that, but as I was reading it, you expect it and it works. As I got into the story and got to know the characters I felt myself getting to know them all and make sure you have your tissues ready for the ending!
