Beth Underdown lectures in Creative Writing at the University of Manchester. Her debut, The Witchfinder’s Sister, was an Richard & Judy bestseller. The Key in the Lock is her second book.

My review

Such a fascinating and intriguing book. I felt totally engrossed in this world around this book. We follow the main character Ivy and her recollection of events that happened in 1888 and then fast forward to 1918. I couldn’t wait to find out the truth about everything. I really connected with Ivy and her story. The characters were so well written that I felt I knew them all. I also loved this authors description of places too as I could visualise exactly what she was describing especially at the great house.

I will definitely read the other book this author has wrote as I loved her style.

If you love historical fiction then you must read this one, I do believe you would love it.
