Book synopsis

It’s the gritty ones that make a pearl.

After plague, earthquakes, tsunamis and demons nearly destroyed humanity, Leora Smith never imagined she would leave the safety of the rural town she helped build from the ground up. But resources dwindle and famine strikes, leaving her people weak and desperate. As hungry eyes look for someone to blame, upheaval erupts. Tempers flare amongst the panicked survivors and they struggle to hold onto hope- until they hear from the outside world. 

Another society exists. They are thriving, or so they say. Leora is faced with an impossible decision- Stay and risk all of her people dying of starvation or go and risk losing everything to a group of people they don’t know.

It’s up to Leora to keep the faith alive and protect them from the worst nightmares of evil embodied in those who walk among them- by any means.

My review

After reading the first book in this series Pearl in the darkness. I could not wait to read this one. It really didn’t disappoint. We get to know the characters more in depth in this book I found.

There are some twists and turns in the book which make it into a real page turner. To see the different people becoming leaders in this book was so well written.

I cannot wait to read more from this author as the books seem to get better and better.
