There is a sudden boom of people moving. The properties are going fast and therefore lots of people moving. Here we have an essential check list to make your move the smoothest it can be for you. Let’s face it moving can be a very stressful time but if you are organised this need not be the case.
1. Find a trusthworthy removal company. This is probably one of the best tips ever. You need someone trustworthy and reliable. Check out their social media pages as well as reviews and you can see what people who have actually used them think of their service. Word of mouth recommendation really does mean a lot. You can also check google for removal companies such as Moving service in London

2. Declutter your home before you move. You do not want to take things with you that you really do not want or won’t use again. Declutter your possessions while you have the chance to. It will make your move so much easier. Get rid of any food that will be out of date in the fridge and food in the freezer. If you declutter your cupboards and find multiple items why not give some of them to the local food bank if it is in date so it can help someone else.
3. Give plenty of notice if you are renting somewhere. This is usually a month but sometimes it can vary depending on your tenancy agreement. Always be prepared by checking this very important item.
4. Make sure you cancel your utility services and reinstate them at the new property. This is also the case for your internet, sky (if you have it) etc. Already better to be prepared nothing worse than having to wait for your services because you didn’t inform them soon enough.

5. Pack your boxes in advance do not leave everything until the day of the move. Mark the boxes for which room they also need to go into. On the day of the move they can be put in each room that they belong to rather than all the boxes being put into the wrong rooms and have to move them all around again.
6. Pack an overnight bag and a bag for the day. These can contain all the essential items you will need. Including snacks especially if you have children! Children will also need to pack a bag of their favourite toys and books etc so they don’t have to unpack all the boxes in their rooms to find what they want for that night. Leave towels, bed linen unpacked ready for the night of the move so they are on hand ready to use.
7. Book a cleaning service for the moving day or day after whatever date works for you. Leaving the old property clean is a must and getting a company to do this can be one less thing to worry about.
8. Do not forget about making arrangements for your pets. Whether they go to a professional pet sitter or family make sure this is organised.
9. Redirect all your mail before you move so this is another job crossed off your list. You don’t want important letters still to go to your old address. You can redirect them for a small fee from Royal Mail but it is so worth it.
10. If you are new to the area join the local Facebook groups and introduce yourselves to the neighbours. This can be a great way to get to know your new community and even get involved in some community things going on. It’s a great opportunity to meet people in the local area too.
Finally enjoy your new home! Yes moving is stressful but think of the feeling of accomplishment when it is all done and you will be in your new home.
