Cooking in lockdown

Cooking in lockdown I didn’t think would change much for me. I already try and cook most things from scratch and try not to waste any food already.

I became more aware of what food I had in my fridge and cupboards though and tried to use up everything. I have also been trying out new flavours and recipes. We eat a lot of Italian food such as pasta etc anyway but I have broadened my horizons and been cooking a lot more different foods such as Spanish food.

Recipes like paella are now a favourite in our household and I love that I can mix it up with anything I have in my fridge at the time. That’s the thing I have learnt about cooking in lockdown is you don’t have to stick to everything the same. You can throw in a different ingredient and make it work.

I have found a great website called Sous Chef that offers kits for you to try different recipes with some of the ingredients and cookware. These would make the best Christmas present! They come in a quality cotton bag and is all individually packaged really well. I know I would be thrilled to get one of these at Christmas. So if you are thinking of trying out new Spanish food recipes or sushi or something else seriously take a look at them.

I think this time in lockdown has made me appreciate what food is readily available to us. It has also made me bake more with my son and to have fun with cooking.

Let me know in the comments if you have found your love of cooking again.
