With the dating scene completely changing over the last year, online dating has never been this poplar. A few weeks ago I wrote about reasons to try online dating. We are all still social distancing but we can all plan some dates for the future now which is very exciting.

Advantages to dating close to home
You know the area
Dating close to home means that you are familiar with the area. You might have grown up in the area too which is a bonus. When you want to meet up with someone for a first date you will know places to suggest. You will want to feel comfortable and at ease with one another so choose somewhere you both like and want to go to. Being a local you will also know the areas you do not want to go to and avoid! You will also have had some memories in the local area and this is something you can chat to your date about, what pub you first went into when younger etc. We all have plenty of stories of growing up in a certain area.
Being near to home
Being near to home is a massive advantage in my eyes. If you have your date and you don’t click with the person or feel like its not for you, then you can get back home quickly with no hassle. Going further for a date is also preferable to some people but it will just make it a little further to travel to get back home. I think dating locally is great for single parents for instance as they know if anything happens they can get home quickly too, which would make them have more peace of mind while on their date.
Being familiar with the area
If you have grown up in the area or know the area well and the other person does not then that can be a great starting point to talk about. Maybe one of you knows more about the history of the place or areas that you didn’t know were there. Lots of possibilities for future dates.
No long distance relationships
I think this is one of the absolute bonuses of local dating, no long distance relationship to worry about. You can see each other more often and not have to worry about just having a few dates when one of you can travel for it. If things progress and you eventually want to stay together and move in together you wont need to decide on who moves miles away and make that sacrifice.
