Last week was the publication day for Heidi Swain’s new book The Holiday Escape. I had pre ordered this book from Waterstones and was so glad it arrived a couple of days before publication.

This meant I had almost 2 days to read it before I went to meet Heidi Swain at Dereham Library.

I finished the book just in time, which I was so pleased about. This library is my local library and its always nice to support local Authors and the library itself.

I had to pick up some flowers first for Heidi Swain as it was the actual publication day for The Holiday Escape, so a very special day for her and us!

The event started at 7.30pm and lasted for around an hour. When I first saw Heidi and told her who I was, as we have been chatting online for quite a long time, we hugged and it was like meeting a friend. She is absolutely lovely and really made me feel welcome.

The Q&A with Heidi was fantastic. We all could ask her questions and a lot of them were obviously about her characters, books and her writing process. I never realised that she was a local too, which was a lovely surprise. This was such an insight into how she works and plans everything for her books and I felt privileged to be listening to her discussing this with us.
After the Q&A Heidi then signed our books for us and had some photographs taken.

The whole evening has encouraged me to try and write my own book, as I have a few ideas, I just need to make a proper start on them.
It was a lovely night and I would love to attend another one soon. Thank you again to Heidi for making me feel so welcome.
