Moving house on last minute with kids

Moving house can be a stressful time for anyone. Even more so if you have children too. This is why you should really use the services of a professional moving services to make this transition as smooth as possible.

Declutter before you move

2. Get separate boxes for things to donate, things to sell and things to keep. Keep everything organised. This way you can see exactly what goes where.

3. Let your children decorate and write on their boxes for their toys and clothes to get them involved. Let them have one box for things they must keep special toys they love. Let them also have a box of toys that they would like to keep with them on the day of the move.

4. Anything that is broken or toys that have pieces missing throw away. Start a fresh at the new house.

Packing

1. Have a box packed that you will have access to straight away for essentials. First aid kit, kettle, mugs etc.

2. Pack each room in turn and make sure you label all of the boxes and state on them what is inside of them. This makes it so much easier to know what is important to unpack immediately.

3. Make a casserole the night before you move. This can be frozen and you can reheat on the night you have moved in as let’s face it no one wants to cook after all of that work!

4. Make sure packed boxes are out in a room away from the children so they don’t play around them and try and unpack any.

The Moving Day

1. Get the children’s rooms set up as a priority. Beds made up and clean fresh sheets too.

2. Make sure you have all the tools you need to put furniture together. Always put the nuts and bolts for furniture when you take them apart in a container or zip lock bag and label which piece of furniture it belongs to.

3. Pack some sandwiches, snacks and drinks so when you want a break you have everything to hand. This is especially handy if you have the children around and they need to be distracted.

4. Always make sure the children and safe during the move. If you can move when they are at school or at nursery or someone can babysit them if would make your life a lot easier. If not then remember safety first.
